Our reading and writing department is growing and we are looking for a Certified Barton or Orton-Gillingham trained tutor who is willing to learn and implement the Barton Reading & Spelling System, to tutor during our busiest time of the day, the 5:00-6:00 and 6:00-7:00 hours, perhaps as early as 4:30 p.m., Monday-Fridays. Possible Saturday sessions, if interested.
Have you been trained in O-G and/or the Barton System and would like to begin using your skills in a supportive tutoring center environment? Would you like to come to one place, have all of your materials at hand, and work in a quiet, controlled environment with your students and families? Would you like to collaborate with other tutors? Do you live in Vancouver and are tired of commuting to all areas of the county? Do you want to have billing and payroll already calculated and done by others?
Successful Learning Educational Services provides just this type of work environment and we are looking for quality educators who have an understanding of the reading process and also have training in different approaches that tackle the needs of students who may learn differently.
Qualifications:
Current Teaching License, at least 3 years of teaching experience, good communication, and computer skills.
Knowledgeable about dyslexia and dysgraphia, or willing to learn about these two coexisting conditions quickly. Willingness to continue growing skills and knowledge.
Ability to work one-on-one with students or in small groups.
Ability to flex schedule in the summers. We are open year-round.
Ability to pass an in-depth background screening is required prior to hiring.
Pay dependent on experience.
